  • I want to learn some yoga tools to help me manage my anxiety

  • I want to sleep sounder and find a better sense of relaxation

  • I want to strengthen my deep core muscles.

1-1 yoga sessions are a place to feel supported in a way that a group class can’t offer.

Yes, we can work together no matter where in the world you are! (And even if you have Zoom fatigue, your session will feel like a break from the computer).

I wanted to try yoga to complement my healing journey, but I knew a group class wouldn't be for me. I was drawn to Larissa because she was open, welcoming, and honest about her own experience.

When we started working together, I found that she was easy to talk to and made yoga feel accessible. It was a calm and safe space to take time to process the events of the week. It was such an important part of my work, to feel my feelings in my body and for it to feel safe.

Longer term, I've generally just felt more calm, and felt more comfortable letting feelings exist. Larissa has become someone that I trust very much. She is a safe person to do this work with - that can be very vulnerable.

Working With Me

The practice of yoga has given me life skills and tools to support myself as I’ve navigated serious injury, loss, and major life changes. And it’s been so much more than getting physically stronger and stretchier.

I want the same for you.

Before I break down the details for you, here are three things to know:

  1. You don’t have to wait to be more ________ (fill in the blank: flexible, healthy, happy, strong, calm) to do these sessions. Come as you are, right now, today. Cranky? We’ll work with it. Unmotivated? It’s ok, just show up for your session. I will not take your crankiness or lack of motivation personally, I promise.

  2. You can practice yoga even if you have accessibility needs or can’t touch your toes. We find ways to bring yoga to you, not the other way around. If physiotherapy or therapy would be a better fit for you, I’ll let you know. And if you already are working with a physiotherapist, yoga sessions can be a wonderful complement.

  3. Yoga helps your hamstrings, and it is so much more. If you’re worried that you have to be “in shape” or super fit to practice yoga, I’m here to tell you NOPE! Yoga is stretching, but it’s also breathing, rest, mindful movement and self-compassion. If you feel like laying down for 15 minutes, we’ll do some breathing and start there. Can’t get enough plank pose? Cool. We’ll work with that.

No yoga experience required.

All you need is an Internet connection and a space to stretch out.

“I was worried about doing yoga because of years of bad habits and some injuries I’ve had. I wanted a safe space to explore and learn what adjustments I needed to make. I also wanted to improve my posture.

The immediate outcome of private sessions was I felt encouraged to explore and take things slowly, focusing on one area at a time. The small changes already started adding up and I know this is the right way to go.

Longer-term, I’m more confident about the way I move. My posture is getting better.

I really like the pace of our sessions—I tend to be impatient and rush, and having a space that was calm and welcoming really helped me open up.”

“I decided to work with Larissa to develop a home yoga routine and feel movement in my body each week.

After a few sessions, I had some established routines and felt more confident going through them on my own. I always felt my stress from work melt away as our virtual sessions got underway.

The longer-term results from 1-1 are that I’ve recovered from past burnout and anxiety and feel confident about exploring new yoga poses.

I looked forward to every week with Larissa. She is so lovely and easy to work with. It was a great addition to my quarantine routine and definitely helped me in recovering through a difficult year.

If you’re considering 1-1 sessions, don’t hesitate. I felt comfortable right away with Larissa and would recommend this to anyone.”

“It was a new and exciting concept for me to use simple physical movements to manage chronic stress symptoms. I appreciated that there was always an invitation to try any new activity. There was a real ease, no-pressure and kind and nonjudgmental approach throughout all the sessions.”

Six Session Package

Once we’ve decided to work together, we’ll get your six sessions on the calendar. You have ten weeks to complete all six sessions. I find most people prefer to book their sessions in weekly or twice a week, at the same time each week for consistency.

In your first session, you can expect us to chat for 10-15 minutes: I’ll check in with where you’re at, if there’s anything in particular you need that day, and cover anything else we might’ve not discussed on our consult call.

I’ll take you through a series of basic movements so I can see how you’re moving. And from there, we’re off!

You can expect me to regularly check in with you during a session and ask how things are feeling. And I want to hear from you! If you don’t like something, I want to know. If you want more or less of something, I’m all ears. I’m the guide and you’re the expert on your body.

Continued support

Once the package is over, our work together can continue!

You can absolutely expect to see results and feel the shifts you’re looking for, and, it’s a great foundation to build on.

No fancy pants/equipment/lingo needed to get the results you want.

I know what it’s like to feel hopeless. To feel resigned. To think that, “this is just how my body is”.

I know what it’s like to feel like your body is an enemy. To have racing thoughts and the inability to take a full and deep breath. To feel like taking care of yourself is a full-time job.

I know these things and I know they can change. It’s possible to find pleasure, ease, and grace in your movement, no matter how stiff or out of shape you feel. No matter what injuries or health issues you have.

It’s possible to learn to rest deeply, even if your nervous system has been on high alert for months or years.

Why yoga?

A promising career in public policy was in store for me until life happened, including injury, loss and a whole ton of health issues.

As a former athlete, I was used to being active, fit, and full of energy and vitality. But my whole being—body-mind-soul— was maxed out. I felt like my life was passing me by. I couldn’t sustain the enormous pressure on my body and had a major burnout before I was thirty years old. (Wild, right?)

Eventually, as I started to move again and feel a bit better, I decided to take my first yoga teacher training in 2017 as a way to continue helping myself. Since then, I haven’t looked back. I learned how to befriend my body again. I’ve found ways to reduce my pain, decrease the frequency of debilitating migraines, and feel like myself again.

If I can do yoga, so can you.

I’ve found a way to adapt my yoga practice to meet me in all seasons of my life. I’ve been a variety of shapes and sizes. I’ve been active and I’ve been sedentary. I’ve been so tired I could hardly move. I’ve run races, ridden my road bike long distances and I’ve also spent lots of time on my couch.

In 2018 I had to learn how to navigate life with a brain injury. Unable to do my regular yoga practice, drive, watch TV or even walk down the block without almost losing my balance, I’ve had to relearn how to move and live in a way that didn’t increase pain. I hardly moved for 2 1/2 years, but I still practiced yoga every day. Let me show you how.
